Combining data acquisition methods: the Radio Panel example

What does combining data acquisition methods mean? This is an approach which involves offering panellists the possibility, for the same survey, of choosing the acquisition method that suits them best. The objective is to adapt to the interviewee's "comfort zone" to optimise return rates and minimise drop-off rates during surveys.

» The Radio Panel example

The Radio Panel is the reference survey for Radio listening behaviour. Over a consecutive 23-day period, around 10,000 panellists are consulted in two waves: September-October and January-February.

This survey is self-administered with Radio listening habits entered on a quarter-hour basis, using daily listening sheets to be completed. The other information gathered concerns the location where people listen to the radio and the TV media they listen to.
